Ari Marcopoulos
| Ari Marcopoulos was born in the Netherlands and moved to New York City in 1979. He photographed in the streets of New York and documented some of the musicians, artists living in the city. Jeff Koons, Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Rakim, John Cage were some of the people that passed in front of his lens. In the mid-nineties he worked with the New York skateboard scene creating the now legendary photos for the Metropolitan ads. He showed with Alleged Gallery and recently had a show at PS1 in New York. In the meanwhile he moved to Northern California where he continues to document his life and the things that come his way. He’s published many books and zines and now worked with 2k on a group of t-shirts. |
